Local MP, Maria Miller visited Basingstoke based bioMérieux that provides diagnostic solutions that improve patient health and ensure consumer safety in over 160 countries.
Maria said, “bioMérieux is another thriving high tech Basingstoke business that have been in Basingstoke for over 20 years and have recently moved to larger premises in Chineham Business Park”.
Still a family run company founded by Marcel Merieux who was a student of Louis Paster, with the current Chairman being Alexandre Merieux, bioMérieux now employs more than 125 people in the UK with 19,000 team members worldwide spread across 45 countries.
Maria added, “It was good to hear that bioMérieux employs over 125 staff in the UK, bringing more skilled and highly paid jobs into Basingstoke.
“Basingstoke employers have changed in the past 2 decades and it’s great that successful companies like bioMérieux who are rooted in our local community continue to understand that Basingstoke offers a favourable blend of transport links and a talent pool of workers. That is why Basingstoke remains one of the top employment centres in the southeast and the economic powerhouse of Hampshire."
