Maria Miller MP said, “After celebrating their best ever Ofsted, BCOT is now confirmed as one of the top five general further education colleges in the country, in the top three BTEC colleges in the country and in the top three colleges for the effective use of digital technology at the recent AOC Beacon Awards. Overall the college is in the top 18% of all further education colleges offering advanced technical skills training. BCOT continues to offer important educational opportunities to young people in Basingstoke and throughout north Hampshire”.
Maria added, “I want all schools and colleges in Basingstoke to be ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’. The hard work of staff and students at BCOT and throughout Basingstoke means that more than 85% schools are already achieving that standard.
“Over 300 interested learners came to a recent apprenticeship fair and with the college having strong links with hundreds of employers, over 700 students currently study apprenticeships. This ensures that students can gain relevant job specific qualifications and learn in the workplace too.
“This recognition for BCoT is a testament to the hard work of staff and students. The obvious passion for learning, along with a strong drive to improve education standards, provide an extensive range of learning opportunities for all students of all abilities”.
