The new Green Energy Technology Centre at Basingstoke College of Technology is currently under construction after a major DfE investment of £150,000
Talking to college Principal Anthony Bravo and Head of Construction, Steve Gilder, Maria Miller MP said, “It is great to see further Government investment in the education of students at BCoT. Training students and up-skilling the local workforce too in new green technologies such as air or ground source heat pumps, under floor heating, and cavity wall insulation will enable students to gain the skills and ensure local businesses are able to offer green solutions to their customers”.
BCoT’s head of construction Steve Gilder said, “The new Green Energy Technology Centre will provide the opportunity for Construction Operatives to upskill in order to install and maintain technologies including Solar Thermal, Solar Photo-Voltaic, Air Source Heat Pumps and Rain/Grey Water Harvesting, the centre will also be used for fulltime construction students, providing an introduction to all things ‘green’, retrofit and net zero carbon involved within the Construction sector”.
Maria added, “This important investment for building upgrades and equipment will be up and running by the end of the academic year and will allow students and local employers to train their staff in the skills necessary to meet our net zero targets”.
