Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke said, “Celebrating each other’s traditions and cultures is part of living in a true multicultural community.
“Like other towns in the southeast, Basingstoke is home to people from around the world. Our Nepali community have strong links to the British Army, work in our hospitals and run important local businesses.
“I was pleased to join the Winter Party again to show my respect for the Nepali traditions and join with hundreds of Nepali families from across the north of Hampshire to celebrate this important event.”
The Basingstoke Nepalese Community has about 700 members, a multicultural and multilingual organisation that organises, supports, and celebrates various events in Basingstoke. The BNC Winter Party held recently at Aldworth School, included various modern, folk, cultural performances and singing from local Nepalese artists and national artists from Nepal.
