Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke said, “The Green Energy Centre at BCoT was made possible with £150,000 of government funding, and enables students to learn the essential skills and knowledge they need to install and maintain green technologies that are fast becoming standard in new and existing housing.
“It was great to see first-hand, during Colleges Week, how this further Government investment in the education of students at BCoT will enable the up-skilling of the local workforce in new green technologies - such as air or ground source heat pumps, under floor heating, and cavity wall insulation.
“This will enable students to gain new skills and ensure local businesses are able to offer more green solutions to their customers”.
Maria added, “I want all our schools and colleges to be Good or Outstanding, and BCoT continues to excel in providing the necessary learning environments to ensure that students have the opportunity to gain the vital skills in an ever-changing landscape.
“This new Green Energy Centre, along with the colleges existing Electric Vehicle Training Centre is a significant milestone for BCoT and will increase the colleges training opportunities and provision for the construction industry. Local companies will also be able to train their staff at the centre in the vital skills necessary to meet net zero targets”.
