Local MP, Maria Miller, was delighted to hear that Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College has been rated “Good” in its latest Ofsted inspection. The report, which has just been published on the Ofsted website, shows that standards at the College have improved since the last inspection in 2008.
Maria said: “This Ofsted report is good news for CBEC, and recognises the important progress made over the last three years. Priority has been given to the quality of teaching in the school, which is so important in ensuring that students fulfil their potential.”
Maria had visited the College just after their Ofsted inspection, and had had the opportunity to discuss this and other issues with Head Teacher Mrs Betty Elkins.
During her visit to the College, Maria also spoke to an assembly of Year 9 and 10 students about the competition “Lights, Camera, Parliament!” in which young people are challenged to make a two to three minute film about a new law they would like to make. Maria was also interviewed by two students for the College magazine. The article they were writing was entitled “A Day in the Life” and they asked her about her two roles, as Basingstoke MP and as Minister for the Disabled.
