Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, recently visited Old Basing Infant School, to be part of the celebrations to mark the opening of the new School Library. The opening was attended by children’s author Julie Sykes, and other guests and parents.
Maria met many of the pupils, and joined with them in looking at some of the books available in the new Library.
Maria said: “I am really pleased to have been asked to be part of the celebrations to mark the opening of the new Library. This is a wonderful facility and the pupils were really enthusiastic about it. Reading is the key to all education and learning, and it is so important to ensure that books and reading play an important part in children’s lives.”
