Maria recently visited Hatch Warren Junior School as part of her programme of visits to Basingstoke schools. She met Head Teacher Mr Ed Dawson and Deputy Head Mrs Cady to discuss recent developments at the school.
She also had a meeting with the previous year’s School Council, who updated her on a range of activities they had led, including the new school website, the school motto, the House Points system, and the Charities they had supported.
Finally, Maria attended a school assembly at which the results of elections for the new School Council were announced, and was delighted to present members of the new Council with their badges.
Maria said: “It was wonderful to see how engaged all the children were and it is clear that Mr Dawson and his team are committed to ensuring that all pupils get a great education at Hatch Warren Junior School.
“I had a great meeting with the outgoing School Council, and was very interested to hear what they had achieved during their year of office. I was also keen to hear their views about what makes Basingstoke a great place to live, and how to make it even better.”
