MP Maria Miller visited The Portsmouth Arms to congratulate General Manager Richard Curtis, who won the 2021 Community Pub Hero Award and present him with his Certificate.
Maria commented;
“It was great to meet with Richard who raised nearly £50,000 for local causes during the nationwide lockdown by hosting daily virtual quizzes. His commitment to the community goes above and beyond and he used lockdown as an opportunity to help those who particularly need support. He also turned the pub’s temporary closure into something positive for the whole community. I was delighted to learn that Richard has also been awarded the British Empire Medal in recognition of his service ”
