Local MP Maria Miller recently visited the Sexual Health (Genito-Urinary Medicine) Clinic at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, to hear about their work. Maria was shown around the Clinic by the Practice Manager, Steve Day, and also met members of the Clinic’s staff, as well as representatives from BRASACC (Basingstoke Rape and Sexual Abuse Crisis Centre. The Mayor of Basingstoke and Deane, Cllr David Leeks, was also visiting the Clinic.
Maria said: “The Clinic plays an important role in helping people with sexual health problems, including sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS. They also work with people of all ages to provide information and advice.”
She added: “I was particularly interested to hear about the Clinic’s absolute commitment to total confidentiality for its clients. I would urge anyone who is concerned about their sexual health to visit the Clinic, knowing that they will receive a confidential and caring service.”
