Maria Miller, MP for Basingstoke, and Minister for Disabled People, has been given a special preview of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic site at Stratford. Maria was given a guided tour of the Olympic stadium, seeing the basketball centre and the velodrome, and also had the opportunity to see the ongoing construction of the Olympic Village and the aquatics centre.
Maria said: “It was fantastic to be able to visit the site and see the amazing venues that are being constructed. I was enormously impressed by the extraordinary scale of the Olympic site and how far advanced the work on the venues is.”
Maria added: “It is just over a year until the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. I have made three nominations for the Olympic Torch relay; and there is still time to make nominations through the Games’ “presenting partners”.
