Maria Miller MP joined South Ham residents at St Andrew’s Methodist Church to continue the celebrations of the Coronation of King Charles III.
Sovereign Housing Association, St Andrew's Methodist Church and local groups hosted the community event that was funded by a Coronation grant from Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council and Sovereign was attended by hundreds of South Ham residents of all ages.
Maria Miller said, “The free event ably hosted by Sovereign Housing and local groups had a truly amazing community feel to it. Residents of all ages enjoyed the games, crafts, and free party food, to commemorate the Coronation of our King. Seated Pilates gave older residents the opportunity to try something new, while youngsters created Coronation crowns, sat in a police car and played giant games on Russell Howard Park.
“The South Ham residents’ Association and Sovereign’s Community investment team along with local charities were on hand with historic photographs of the South Ham area showing the changes that have occurred over the years and local charities provided opportunities for residents to access support”.
“It was great to chat to many residents about their aspirations for the community and the areas that they live and work in. South Ham is a great place to live, and it was moving to look at the historical photographs and articles on display”.
