There was a huge amount of interest among the pupils in standing as their class’s Council member, and all of those who put themselves forward had to make a speech outlining what they would do if they were elected. The School had been loaned an election booth and ballot boxes from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, so the pupils had a really authentic voting experience.
Maria said: “It is a great learning experience for young people to take part in this type of democratic process at an early age, and I applaud all of the Kempshott pupils who put themselves forward as candidates to represent the interests of their classmates. I send my best wishes to the members of the new School Council for an interesting and successful year ahead.”
